A ball screw is a mechanical unit that translates rotational motion to linear motion or vice versa. A threaded shaft provides a helical raceway for balls within a nut which act as a precision screw. As well as being able to apply or withstand high thrust loads, they can do so with minimum internal friction. They are made to close tolerances and are therefore suitable for use in situations in which high precision is necessary. The ball assembly acts as the nut while the threaded shaft is the screw.
Ball screws are further classified as follows :
Rolled ballscrews are made by rolling process of the screw spindle instead of the grinding process, rolled screws are produced by forcing round bar stock through rotating dies to form the thread the long rolled bars are then cut to length and heat treated.
RGround Ball Screws are made through grinding process, on ground screws journal machining is performed prior to thread grinding which ensures precise concentricity with the ball thread.
Miniature ball screw assemblies are conventionally understood to be systems with a nominal diameter of 12mm or less. Their miniaturized nut geometries are achieved through the use of optimized recirculation systems with very small balls. These ball screws are usually not preloaded or only slightly preloaded to ensure the smoothest possible travel.
A Precision lock nut, is a nut that resists loosening under vibrations and torque. Using Precision Lock Nuts enable you to achieve the required accuracy, and reduced assembling time..
Precision coupling is a device used to connect two shafts together at their ends for the purpose of transmitting power. The primary purpose of couplings is to join two pieces of rotating equipment while permitting some degree of misalignment or end movement or both. By careful selection, installation and maintenance of couplings, substantial savings can be made in reduced maintenance costs and downtime.
Asian makes such as NIKKI (Japan) and YINSH (Taiwan) are few of the reputed manufacturers of Precision lock nuts and precision couplings. These products are available with us with a lead delivery time of a week to 10 days.
