FAQ

BALL SCREW - FAQ's

Q. What is the difference between Rolled and Ground Ballscrew

The Process of Manufacturing of a Ground Ballscrew is through abrasion where a hard abrasive cutter carves few threads at a time whereas Rolled Ballscrews are manufactured when the blank metal is pushed back and forth using rotating tool dies which shapes the threads of the screw.

Q. What is Precision Ballscrew

Precision Ballscrew manufactured using patented Precision Screw Forming Technology by Germany based Bosch Rexroth Group. Screw Shafts produced through this method provides an accuracy of 23 microns/300 mm (T5-Tolerance Grade) as Standard and a still better accuracy of 12 microns/300 mm (T3-Tolerance Grade) on special request

Q. Do you stock all types of Ballscrew Assemblies*

YES, due to our wide spectrum of customer base from various industrial segments, we try to maintain the common sizes in all types of Ballscrews

BK Type Ball Screws

Q. Do you give one on one replacement of Ballscrew Assemblies

Q. Can you supply substitute or Interchange of scarce and exceptional Ballscrews

YES , we can supply all kinds of exceptional Ballscrews and suggest economic substitute for various application

Q. Can you supply Ballscrews in longer lengths

YES. We can supply upto 7 mtrs. (7000mm)

Q. What is the lead time for delivery of Ballscrew Assemblies

Regular sizes are available ex-stock and Ballscrews with non-standard pitch at minimum possible lead time.

Q. Do you have end-machining facility

YES, we do have in-house end machining facility and Ballscrews are end-machined in accordance with customer drawings.

Ballscrew Assemblies are a combination of Screw shaft with Ball Nuts of various types namely Single Nut, Double Nut, Cylindrical Nut, Nut with External Ball Circulation and with Internal Ball Circulation.

1. What is C3 ?

C3 bearings are bearings that have an additional internal radial clearance to cope with high speed environments where excess heat is generated. C3 Bearings are loose to the feel from new and often people complain at the quality of the bearing being poor and having more movement than the one they are replacing. This is the characteristic of a C3 bearing.

2. What is tolerance class ?

The dimensional and running accuracy of bearings determine its tolerance class.

3. What is bulk packing or OE packing ?

Major suppliers world over adopt a standard packaging method of putting small and medium size bearings in single boxes; however number of manufactueres also pack these bearings in bulk without single box in cartons of 25, 50 for their OE customers and also for their distributors to extend a marginal cost advantage since the incurred cost is less due to bulk packing. Miniature bearings are also generally supplied in bulk trays of 50,100 and 200 pcs.

4. What are the causes of bearing contamination or corrosion and how to prevent it ?

Bearings kept in unwrap condition , stocked in places which is prone to moisture, flow of acid, open fire, tends to contaminate the rolling elements of bearing which results in corrosion and rust thereby making the bearing of no use. It is therefore recommended to keep bearings in a place free of moisture and other such harmful chemicals

5. What is the cause of friction and noise in a bearing ?

In general, insufficient or improper lubrication is one of the many causes that leads to friction and noise in bearing. Therefore an appropriate lubricant may improve bearing friction and life. Moreover, improper mounting and excessive grease lubrication can also lead to friction and rise in operating temperature. It is then most essential to use the right mounting tools for fitting bearings and lubricate bearing with proportionate value of lubricant.

6. What are the tools available to fit bearings?

Various types of mounting tool sets like mounting rings, socket wrench, hook wrench and Dismounting tools or extractors or pullers are used for accurate fitting and dismounting of bearings. For insert bearings to be inserted within a pillow block or flange block has to be inserted using Teflon hammer

7. What is the shelf life of a bearing ?

To provide for a precise tenure of life of a bearing is little difficult; however depending upon the packaging and the method of storage the shelf life of a bearing can be extended upto two years. This is recommended almost universally across all manufacturers. However in many instances under very ideal conditions bearing can have shelf life of more than 5 years subject to that the bearings are wrapped in its original packing and kept untouched.

8. What quality assurance do you extend ?

Every bearing bought by M M Huzeifa is sourced from the most genuine and reputed distributors for any given brand. Documentary evidence like bill of entry and import invoices can be provided to prove the authenticity of import origin as well as test-certificate of indigenously produced bearings can be provided upon request.

9. Do you have everything ex-stock ?

Being in this trade for nearly 40 years has inculcated in us the importance of timely deliveries which helps minimize cost in the long run; therefore at M M Huzeifa price quoted are for bearings available ex-stock and in specific cases kept reserved for loyal customers. Moreover precise lead time is taken for bearings offered against import deliveries and every care is taken to adhere to the lead time

10. What about price consistency ?

A substantial percentage of bearings are imported and therefore are subjected to exchange rate fluctuations which results in the high volatility of the product pricing. Nevertheless, we understand the importance of commitment and hence hold sufficient inventory to maintain prices even when exchange rates are on a upward scale. Additionally indigenous products and few imported brands are quoted on price-list basis which remains constant for a minimum period of one year.

11. What is your delivery period once the order is placed ?

Under normal circumstances material is sent by road transport which ideally takes about 3 to 5 days anywhere within India and in specific case material could be sent by air courier to be delivered within 24 to 36 hours within India. For overseas deliveries, if shipped by sea mode may take a week to a fortnight and air shipment could be delivered in 2 to 3 days.

12. What is the method of packing ?

All the goods to be dispatched are either packed in wooden cases or corrugated boxes depending upon the weight of the consignment. Additionally polythene bags are used to wrap the goods inside the cartons and cases for protection against water and dirt. For overseas dispatches goods are packed in sea worthy packing in wooden cases properly fumigated as per the norms of the customs department.
